Energy Efficient Lighting

cfllighting.jpgIn the US, the life of the ordinary incandescent bulb is numbered for they are scheduled for phasing out in the next couple of years. Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFL’s) and Light Emitting Diodes (LED’s) are taking their place due to better efficiency and less power consumption. Most homes that still use ordinary bulbs waste a lot of power in terms of wasted energy. Hold your hand near an incandescent light bulb and you’ll feel heat, heat that is in fact wasted energy that should have been converted to light. A 40 Watt incandescent bulb is matched in light output by a 5 Watt CFL yet the energy consumption is much less and the light more efficient. Continued on the next post…
