Upgrading your Home
Renovating a home is by no means an easy task especially if one has to replace most of the appliances that have been in use for quite some time. The fact of the matter is that you may have to, rather than leave it be for the older the appliance the more power in terms of electrical consumption you pay for. Newer appliances have more safety in mind and use better, more efficient technology that saves you money in the long run. Older appliances required brute force to work and they were made at a time when power was cheap and readily available.
Energy Star rated appliances have advanced power saving features and safety measures that ensures you and your family stays safe and consume less power. The older the appliance the less effective the old safety provisions become, fuses and wires become brittle, motor brushes wear out, gears get worn and so on and so forth. Like a well maintained classic car engine, you need an overhaul from time to time to keep it running in tip-top shape, ready for some more years (about a decade) of service.
